Site fir MMDclone for PC: http://mercenarysite.free.fr/ This is a really good emulated version for all the Merc. games.

I loved 'Mercenary' on the Speccy (the ST Version wasn't much different - same wireframe graphics), and I wanted to get into 'Damocles' and 'The Dion Crisis', but they seemed totally different gameplay-wise.. Where the aim of Mercenary was pretty much just to get off Targ, the sequels were a lot harder - and for some reason the clock (another thing the original didn't have, thankfully!) went into overdrive whenever you left the planet and in the space of two seconds it was - boom! Game Over (Well, the possibility of finishing the game anyway.) Excellently presented games for the time though - Isometric 3D games like these, 'Driller' and 'Dark Side' (And there was another one set in a pyramid or a Mayan temple or something - can't remember the name right now) paved the way to some of later hits like 'Deus Ex' :)

This was really an incredible experience - the attention to detail for the time was excellent. I would simply fly around different locations for hours exploring. Another timeless classic.

I remember having played for hours on a #cracked# (oh, young readers, don't thing about cracking your games, or you shall be doomed forever by St Jack Tramiel) version of Mercenary 1 & 2. Unfortunatly, I never understood what I was supposed to do except shooting everything in sight... Oh, lovely old-fashioned 3D...

Once, while playing this game i flew onto this weird orangey planet and got into a taxi. Which took me all over the place, there were only about two buildings in sight the whole time. Then i couldn't find the ship so i had to restart haha. I agree with Ally, today they could make a great game on the theme of mercenary using all the great technology from flight simulators etc.

I thought this was great, at the time it seemed sooooo big. Plenty to do,etc. I'd love to see a newer version for the PC's of today, imagine how cool that would look

Much like it's predecessor, Damocles, Mercenary 3 had you roaming around the solar system with loads of puzzles, objects to collect and places to explore. This time there are people there, some what anoying at times. I never really got into this game...Damocles was the classic and had all the ingredients. This version I'm sure is great, and with the additions will make a different experience once you get tired of Damocles. The big thing I seem to remember on my 520 ST was how much slower this game was to the original...very off-putting!
