auto scrolling never did and never will work in a video game, platformers are to be enjoyed, this ended up as a very useful beer mat

This sort of reminds me of being stuck on an auto scroll level in a mario game. At least on a mario game they give you a normal level soon afterwards so you don't end up wanting to smash your TV in. I haven't got to any level that doesn't auto scroll really fast yet, I really hope the whole game isn't like this but I am afraid it is. And it is very cruel trapping the player in dead ends every time the screen scrolls into unfamiliar territory. Blasphemy!
