I used to play loads of text adventures and this game is rightly credited as sounding the death knell for them; it had all the atmosphere, puzzles and the freedom to explore but with a completely graphical user interface. As well as being revolutionary it was also great fun. Some of the puzzles were a little on the illogical side, but mostly in a good way; you'd laugh out loud at the offbeat humour when you finally figured them out rather than curse.

What a cracker! I loved this game but my version didn't like me. Any downloads available? When adventure games are done like this they rock!

yes yes and yes...this is the best adventure game i've ever played. Great humour, and countless jokes await you in almost every click of the mouse! And yet you were totally immersed in the world of monkey island and not once distracted from the nice storyline. Great writing. They just don't make them like this anymore....

This had so many good things going for it, such as the insult sword-fighting and the frankly bizarre humor ("Tell me about Loom!" and the whoel fiasco in the Governer's mansion). The puzzles were varied too, from the standard "use this on this" to holding a mug of Grog in five diffferent mugs because it kept melting through them. The sequels were all great fun too, though none of them were released on the ST.

Lucasfilm Games created the most classic game ever... Out of them all its the only one I replay time and time again.

Probably the best graphic adventure ...ever. I love the humour! The music on the title screen is awesome.

Classic. One of the all time greatest games of all time ever (along with the sequal). Although three and four are far more fancier, and just as enjoyable, they don't have the same romance that the first two had! I got the first three for the PC as a box set. I spoke to no one for a fortnight!

Actually I never really understood the humor of this game. If you like unnormal solutions to problems, this one is for you.

What a life changing game! A real classic. It would be my second choice over Rainbow Islands if I was going to recomend any game to someone. Please please download the disk image, it will give you hours of fun from a series still going today! Rob B-I

This is my all time favourite game of all time. I play this game frequently and it has excellent music. It has great jokes and a brilliant atmosphere when playing. I have played all 4 but this is still my favourite.
