A brilliant adaptation of the excellent board game. A lot of the elements seem a bit strange (e.g. the combat via dice rolling) when translated to the computer, but I still thought it played better than any of the other strategy games I had on the ST. The game can be found on the D-Bug 051 disc.

i used to play this game soooo much i can still remember the theme tune 13 years on. any way it's based on the warhammer 40,000 games which is cool in itself. so you take turns to move your squad around corridors killing anything that moves. challege one or all three squads from, blood angels, imperial fist or the ultra marines. use these three space marine chapters to battle through the missions and gain points and honours to progress. It seemed to crash a lot as i remember too.

A brilliant strategy game, where you move your squad through derelict ships full of evil creatures. Inspired by the Warhammer 40K universe (and Space Hulk). There was also a board game version of this game. The missions varied from killing the Dreadnought (think The Terminator on robo-steroids) to blasting a hole in the ship and letting the vacuum of space slowly take it over (meaning you had to run away very quickly). A lot of number-generating may put people off, but this is my all time favourite Atari ST game.

ST Action Summary: With fantastic graphics and demanding gameplay, Space Crusade is almost perfect. The only thing that seems to let it down is the immense difficulty found in actually getting anywhere in the later missions. The alien contingency seems to be, at times, bloody invincible and even after hours of gaming, missions still hadn't been won. However, this could be a good thing, but I suspect most will get fed up before they succeed. On the other hand though, this is far superior to Hero Quest in its design and is most definitely worth getting - an excellent arcade style RPG. RATING = 90 % (NOTE: 1040 Only, Mouse/keyboard controls, 1 player)
