An innovative game that has spawned many sequels! The graphics and sound are poor but if you look past that you'll find a fun game with loads of playability.

I took the mickey out of my mate for sitting in his bedroom for 7 hours playing the sims while it was glorious sunshine outside and we were all down the beach... then I thought back a few years, when I was sitting in my bedroom for 7 hours playing Sim city while outside was glorious sunshine and all my mates were getting girlfriends etc.

A classic in every sense of the word. One of the most highly addictive games ever! The graphics on the ST version were pretty poor compared with the PC original but this is still one of the all time greats, forget what platform it was on!

What the heck happened to the monster in this game? The graphics were bad, as stated, but I liked the basic style (before things like sewer systems got involved) but the increased difficulty of making your city work and dealing with complaints. I remember getting excited about this game, and about Theme Park a few years later.

i got this in the ST pack thing, i spent hours playing this - so its not as great as say the Sims (which are utterly addictive also) or any of the later PC sim sities but this game taught a generation! and even though there wasnt much graphic wise, you could still spend hours in front of that screen! i especially loved causing disasters such as 'monster' lol.

another classic... the kind of game that set new standards that are still up to date more than ten years later... Graphics and sounds got better and more impressive, but the concept, and overall the gameplay were here. If you've already played this, you know what i'm talking about. You shouldn't be reading this, you should be playing. Otherwise, download this, try to forget that the graphics suck (and remember that was more than 10 years ago...) and just enjoy ... So? Isn't that just as good as any game now? 720KB, man... What do you need 700 MB for?!!!!!??? BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the only ever computer games that my mum liked to play. She loved putting parkland everywhere so that it was nice for the people :o)

This was one of the games I got free when I first got my ST. Not the best graphics, but endless hours of game play.

My First Impression of this Game, was Really great, with some Friends we Have Played some Nights,At this Time is was the Best New Idea for A Game.

Great game as it was a completely new idea when it came out. But I know a version which is better: the one on the SNES. After all I think the ST version has a few bugs: when the city becomes very large there will remain large areas where nobody settles although they are perfect and offer everything. Another strange thing is that the habitants avoid cheap areas and then moan about expensive housing costs :-/

I agree also, the graphics on the ST version are pretty abysmal but the orginal sim city is so much more enjoyable than the sequels. Sim City 2k landscape absolute nightmare to manage, and the underground pip/subway map a sick joke. Though sim city 3k imporved it a lot (seperate subway and water maps) it became very clumsy. Though I wish sim city orginakl had grater tax rate contorls and more transit options. bu ease of greenspace making so much easier and ordinances much better to in SC orginal. Swings and roundabouts as always....

Couldn't agree more with The Pacifist's comment. The PC sequels to this game sucked - the original Mac and PC versions were far superior. They added a ton of crap to the PC versions, but instead of making the game feel more realistic they made it feel less realistic, mostly because you had to micromanage everything, none of which felt legit. The interface was horrible, too - having to deal with a 3-D landscape became a serious pain. Isn't terrain manipulation something the Sims could have handled themselves??? Anyhow this is, along with Dungeon Master and Sundog, one of the best games released for the ST . . . or any other personal computer, for that matter.

I can't believe that no-one has commented on this game yet. The graphics and sound are non-existant, yet it has far more gameplay than either of it's sequels on the PC...Doesn't that tell you something?
