I never finished all the islands, although I did make it the the opposite corner on the map. Alas, the final graphic sequence was just you getting your crown (a few seconds). The intro was great. I liked the little things like it taking a while to send messages to other commanders as they had to be sent by carrier pigeon. All the people were individuals and you could click on them (or their ghosts :-) to find out about them. Playing against a friend was great fun too - especially if your army greatly outnumbered theirs... |

Still play this game every now and then. Prolly have never spent more time with a single game than with Powermonger. Have someone actually conquered all the islands? It becomes dead hard after 30-40 islands or so. |

I think this game was seriously underated. Many people commented how difficult it was to play but I just don't see that myself. It was one of the best games Bullfrog ever produced and its clear to see where the likes of Syndicate came from after this. Granted the game was a little bit buggy but it was some how very gratifying to see an army of 100 men marching over a hill to take out an massive town with a waiting army and its leader. This is one way in which I think the game was better than Populous because you had no magical powers just plain old weapons and good old fashioned fisty cuffs! (btw the way cannons could only be built in towns with mines and mines could only be built in towns on high ground.) |

Hey Feige, i was 10 and i'm french, i've understood everything (or almost - i never understood why i could build a canon sometimes ) and played this games for hours,i was young and everything in english; it's one of the best game in its category, peter molyneux was a genius in his time...
and what a good intro music!! |

It should be mentioned that this game is impossible to play if you don't have the instructions for it! I was an expert in playing cracks without instructions in those times (shame on me!), but I NEVER found out how this game works. |

I used to love this game so much! Civilization is better, but this is a joint second with MegaLoMania. I thought this was better than Populous 1 or 2, I never really liked those games. Anyway, I'm rambling on! Definately try this game if you have the slightest incling for god sims : ) |

Peter Molyneux said about this game that it was unfortunately rushed out of the door, and I regret to say that he's right. He should know, he designed it after all. :)
Anyway, the game starts off very promising (the intro alone is worth the download - the music sent shivers down my spine back then everytime I watched and listened to it). You build up your first army, conquer your first village, build ships, kill sheep to stock up your provisions. Sadly the game becomes very hard very fast and motivation to play thourgh it drops fast as there is nothing really new to discover in the later levels. Worth a look, but nothing to spend more than some hours on. After Bullfrog's smash hit Populous this surely was a disappointment. |
