@ guy ross. Respect to the atari mate, and my rantings are to be taken with a pinch of salt. i luv st games. and the st, damn i still play my atari 2600. Your right tho- format wars were kids things, but was'nt it alive when the st and amiga ruled supreme. guess i just cant let go. lol. But am still right about tho big black borders :) |

Meh, fair point bazfan. I apologise if I came across as attacking, that was not what I intended. You have a valid point as both formats are not identical. The scrolling wasn't as bad as cannon fodder though, was it? I think the point is that yes, the amiga version as often smoother, had samples, bigger play area etc, but the miggy was £100 more expensive, so you'd expect some improvements, wouldn't you?.. Somehow though, us ST owners muddled through.. I'll say no more as this is not the place for a format war. ;-) |

still have mine in attic, chek out those sensi soccer st borders, now before u start attacking me, get ur facts straight load it up and see. |
guy ross wrote ... | 2006-11-19 21:40:51 |
The ST had borders, bazfan. You obviously have never owned or used one. Which begs the question; why do you keep posting comments on an ST site? Still making up for lost time, eh? ;) Be nice to people, mate. You'll find life's a lot more pleasant if you are.
SWOS was the best, mind. But this paved the way (on all formats).

@danny fell. Hmmm big black horrible borders, hissy spot effects poor scrolling and very bland pitches. Cant say the same about the amiga version. can you??...... case closed. |

Brilliant game, perfect difficulty level made it what it is.Whoever that tit was who said the amiga version was better id like him to explain how cos they were virtually identical, gameplay especially. |

For me, this was not only the best football game on the ST, but the best sports game on the machine and damn close to the best arcade-style game on it too. Yes, the Amiga version has better sound - as usual - but the gameplay is pretty much identical between the two. |

I remember this being better than KO2 for a while because the real football rules had just been changed so the keeper couldn't pick up a back pass. Sensi had that rule! You could also name your own teams - Surreal United with 'Haunted Soup' at left back and 'Some pilgrims' in goal. Awesome!
Played it recently and totally lost it, no idea how I scored a billion goals a game when I was at my peak (14 years ago). I am still playing KO2 however... |

this was the one that killed the Kick Off dynasty......it shut them KO fans up good and proper....innovative for its time and re-wrote the manual for footy games designers....good stuff |

Simply the best football game on th ST period, only topped by FIFA for me. The controls were hard to master at first but once you manage to stop running off of the ball it was pretty easy. If you played 442 you could turn in a corner from the guy on the near post everytime! Anybody beat 54-0? |
Bandages wrote ... | 2004-08-21 17:41:42 |
The controls were easy to get the hang of, and the game played like real football, with flowing passing moves possible and worthwhile. Great game, but maybe Alan needs to bat for the other team if he's enjoying this more.... |

Anyone still got the demo from ST Format #39?
Hot tip of the day (bug in the demo): score a goal in the 45th minute and play forever!! |

I don't like football much but this game is great! Really smooth and ultra-playable as it has been said. There has been a funny demo version of it with fruits as players (oranges vs lemons) named Unsensible Soccer. |
Selurtsirata wrote ... | 2003-09-23 20:04:08 |
I nver played the full version but i had the demo and i kicked arse. For some reason when you scored on the 89th minute you could play forever without having to restart. So i quess i never had the but the full version.

Sensible Soccer was and still remains the best football game ever. Comparing it to kick off is a blatent insult as the playibility, controls and everything r superior on it. If you control this game u need help. |

Sorry to be Judas but I really can't see the big deal about this game. Best football game ever? No chance. Grotty little sprites, bland sound, highly overated control system with that annoying turn a corner and the ball keeps on going in the direction you were going. No thanks. |

Phenomenally playable, joystick wrecking, wrist aching (!), sun-tan avoiding, food and sleep optional, humungous time wasting excuse of a game. Fantastic. Corner, pass, shoot, corner, pass, shoot, etc, etc |
Hyrax wrote ... | 2002-01-16 01:13:26 |
Im not a footy fan either but this game was top. Nothing like getting a huge lobbing shot or an header from a corner in the back of the net. Genius. |
guy ross wrote ... | 2002-01-06 15:21:53 |
I'm no footaball fan... but this is the best footy game on any format. anywhere. Well ok, so I mostly play the amiga SWOS, but hey, it's a free country. the sensy lads did good with this one. |

A great game... only KO2 could get near this. The last bloke has a point about it being a bit too easy to master, however it's still great and the custom teams were pwetty cool in their day. Taking my team Arsechester Athletic to Egg Cup Glory is one of the abiding memories of my childhood

A great alternative to Kick off 2, this is a little easier to pick up and play, especially with 2 players.
I used to love the huge knockout tournaments with 16 of us playing (beer and dope included), but (and a mild but) I was always drawn back to the depth of KO2 and put of by how fast I became unbeatable at this title.
Try the international version that doesnt allow goals via the 'short pass from corner and shoot' method.

The best version of a footie sim ever. |
